Takeda raises more than $59,000 to benefit local community organizations

Deerfield, ILL. – October 5, 2012 – More than $59,000 was donated to Chicagoland community organizations today thanks to Takeda Cares Day.  Held in Deerfield, the employee-driven event benefitted Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago, Chicago Family Health Center and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children in Lake County.

“Takeda Cares Day is a day to showcase our philanthropic spirit and celebrate our employees – many of whom have limited time due to work and family obligations – giving them a meaningful and fun way to contribute to building a stronger and healthier community without leaving the Deerfield campus,” said Doug Cole, president of Takeda Pharmaceuticals U.S.A. Inc.

Sparked by their desire to find a way to promote camaraderie throughout the office and make a meaningful contribution to their community, more than 590 employees participated in a 5k run/walk and field games at the company’s Deerfield campus. For every employee who participated, Takeda donated $100 to one of three community organizations pre-selected by the participating employees.
