10th District Voters Remain Undecided
Latest poll in race to challenge Dold shows Schneider with solid lead of those who have made up their mind.
With just over a month to go before the March 20 primary, approximately half the Democratic voters planning to cast a ballot to nominate a candidate to oppose Rep. Robert Dold (R-Kenilworth) in the Nov. 6 general election remain unsure of their choice.
In a poll conducted earlier this week by the consulting firm Normington Petts for the campaign ofe Derfield management consultant Brad Schneider, one of four candidates for the Democratic nod, 51 percent of the likely voters are undecided.
Despite the uncertainty, Schneider holds a substantial lead over his nearest rival, Waukegan community organizer Ilya Sheyman. The results show 29 percent prefer Schneider, 14 percent want Sheyman, four percent like Long Grove business owner John Tree and two percent favor Mundelein attorney Vivek Bavda.

In a survey prepared over a month ago by the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, a group supporting Sheyman, 49 percent of the likely voters were not sure of their choice. In that poll Sheyman was the selection of 23 percent, Schneider of 21, Tree of five and Bavda of two.
Despite the large indecisiveness, Schneider thinks the results give credence to his claim he is the candidate best equipped to challenge Dold. He also feels voters are starting to hear his message.

"I am excited to see our positive, progressive message is resonating with the people of the District,” Schneider said in a statement from his campaign. “I look forward to continuing to share my long-time commitment to working families, a woman’s right to choose, the environment, marriage equality, and small businesses with voters.”
The newest poll shows Schneider is known by 49 percent of the respondents. Of those who know of him, 29 percent have a favorable impression and eight percent view him unfavorably. Sheyman is known by 34 percent.
The Normington Petts telephone survey of 400 likely Democratic voters in the reconfigured 10th Congressional District was conducted Feb. 14 and 15. It has a margin of error of 4.9 percent.
