Abt Ranks Best in Nation
Consumer Report surveyed more than 18,000 respondents across the country who said the North Shore retailer was their top choice over national chains including Home Depot, Lowe's, Best Buy and Sears.
North Shore electronics giant Abt has been named No. 1 for major appliance purchases by Consumer Reports magazine for the third consecutive year.
Despite having only a single brick-and-mortar location (plus an online store on Amazon.com), Abt earned high marks for price, selection and overall experience, according to the magazine.

The national survey, which polled 18,000 people, showed deals matters most, followed by quality and solid customer service.
One survey respondent Marc Hamilton said he was first introduced to Abt through the company’s webstore and was impressed with the retailer’s offerings.
"I hadn't heard of Abt, but I did some online research and liked what I saw," Hamilton, who lives in the St. Louis area, told Consumer Reports.
Abt is scheduled to finish a second-floor expansion of its current 100,000-square-foot showroom in Glenview by mid-July, adding mattresses, bedding products and security services to it’s product repertoire.
The retailer also purchased land in Bolingbrook in late 2011 and talk of a potential 150,000-square-foot second location on a 38.7-acre plot is in the works.
