Patch wants to know the restaurants, foods, drinks, car washes, recreational facilities, hair salons, barber shops and everything else about Deerfield the residents think make it special. And, you get to have the full say.
Starting today through July 9 you get to nominate your choice in all 30 categories. Just write in best pizza, best martini, best kids’ haircut, best sports coach and all the other selections and click submit. Feel free to tell us why in the comments. In fact, it is encouraged.
Now that the nominations are closed, we will turn them into the familiar Patch polls you see on this site by July 22. The attached PDF file contains the rules of the event.
Then it is your turn once again as voting begins July 23 and continues through August 17. These polls will look the same but be a little different. Registration will be required to keep the voting fair.
A week after the polls close, Patch will have the results tabulated and all the winners will be announced.
This is your chance to completely involved with the event. The nominations are your choice. The voting is your choice.
The winners will be the Readers’ Choice.

Certainly NOT Patinos Landscaping. When we first contracted some years back, they were excellent...the past two or three years they have been sloppy, inconsistent, tardy and may I say, I can't prove it, but dishonest...I've questioned many an "odd" charge.

I am my own best Landscaper. I let my Landscaper go when I figured out the grass was getting cut when not needed, and when it needed cutting they would would be a day or two away. Grass does not grow to be cut every Thursday. Plus, I can use the exercise and saving money's not bad either.
Worst landscaper? The guys that show up nearby on Saturday afternoon and use loud leaf blowers, mowers and such when we are trying to relax on the deck. If your landscaper is super cheap, they probably don't have insurance and your homeowners will not pay if they get hurt on the job. Good luck with that.

I nominate Jeff Burgess, former DYBA coach for the difference he made for my son Alex. Alex first played for Jeff 13 years ago (in DYBA Pinto). Jeff devoted himself to making sure Alex had the experience of a lifetime. Jeff's devotion turned Alex into a sports nut and I believe Jeff's influence from his DYBA days still plays a significant role in Alex's success.

Ryan Brown Track & Field Coach for DHS and owner of Orion Track & Field Club. He has coached for three years. This season his sprint squad broke two school records and went down to Charleston to compete against the state's best sprint squads. He has developed a great program and puts a lot of energy and passion into the DHS Track & Field program.
