Coldwell Ranks Deerfield Expensive Place to Live

Village identified as one of top 10 most expensive markets in Illinois.

According to a report released by Coldwell Banker Real Estate on Wednesday, Deerfield is one of the state’s most expensive markets to live in.

The 2011 Home Listing Report (HLR) reviewed 139 real estate markets in Illinois and compared the average home listing price of four-bedroom, two-bathroom properties listed between September 2010 and March 2011. 

Based on Coldwell’s criteria, statistics show Kankakee is the most affordable market in the state with an average home listing price of $82,621. Numbers identify Lake Forest as the state’s most expensive market with an average home listing price of $753,543.

According to the HLR, Deerfield falls on the higher end of more expensive markets topping Highland Park, Glenview and Libertyville. It ranked 131 out of 139 markets in Illinois and fell at 2,098 out of 2,270 markets ranked nationally.

Coldwell places Deerfield’s average four-bedroom, two-bathroom home listing price at $512,525.

Deerfield's neighbor Northbrook ranked even higher at 133 with an average listing price of $545,366.

The report places the average listing price of four-bedroom, two-bathroom homes in Illinois at $301,258 compared to the national average of $293,251.
