Deerfield Based Businesses Have Busy Week

Takeda acquires a new company while Beam declares a dividend.

Deerfield based businesses finished a busy week as Takeda Pharmaceuticals acquitted LigoCyte Pharmaceuticals, Inc, and Beam, Inc., declared a dividend for its shareholders, according to business news sources.

Takeda, located on Takeda Parkway in Deerfield, will pay $60 million cash for LigoCyte plus potential future considerations based on the company’s performance, according to prnewswire. LigoCyte, based in Bozeman, MT, manufactures vaccines.

"Takeda's acquisition of LigoCyte is a major step forward in the expansion of Takeda's vaccine business, and a demonstration of Takeda's dedication to preventing illness in children and adults around the world," Executive Vice President Dr. Rajeev Venkayya said in the prnewswre story.

Beam, distillers and distributors of brands like Jim Beam Bourbon, Canadian Club and Courvoisier Cognac, will pay shareholders of record as of the close of business Nov. 7 $0.204 per share in cash on Dec. 3, according to 4-Traders. This will bring the total dividend for this year to $0.82.
