Field Hockey Team Bows Out of State Meet

Deerfield High School squad falls to defending champ New Trier.

The Deerfield High School field hockey team finished an improved season Tuesday falling to defending state champion, New Trier in the quarterfinals of the State Tournament, 3-0, according to a report on the CSL Insider.

Like in the first game between the Warriors and the Trevians, the game was scoreless for the first half. Deerfield was led by strong defensive play by Meili Burns, Jessie Stein and Maeve Derrig, Emily Block and Ariana Michel, according to the Insider story.

The Warriors finished the season 13-11-1 after few wins the year before, according to a Patch season preview. They improved their seed in the pairings for the state tourney from 17th to eighth this season. With a junior heavy team, the future looks strong as well.
