You really need to see Deerfield Family Theater's King and I. I was skeptical as it was in a Junior High, not a theater, but WOW. The venue may be a school, but the production was very professional. The sets, the costumes, the sound balance between orchestra and performers was all top notch. And the leads were absolutely amazing. Anna had just the right amount of emotions in the right places. The King is impressive but comtemplative, tough but concerned. Mary Alexander and Dave Lemrise had great chemistry together which gave the production a very true feeling. Lady Thiang played by Anne Arza brought tears to my eyes as she sang Something Wonderful with great emotion and quietly expressed her characters love for the king with tears at the end. Tuptim (Sarah Glieberman and (Lun ta) Tim Quinn were also very impressive with their duets . I've paid for many professional shows that did not have as much talent as these fine actors. The rest of the cast all performed well (Ricky Jacobson and Riley Strauss should also be commended for the Prince and Louis ) and the kids were very adorable.

Its worth the money by far. One of the best productions of this show I've seen in a long time.

Saw this last Saturday, it was a great show. Can't say I liked the chairs in the theater ( bring a coat to sit on or a cushion) , but the show itself was very good. The leads were all exceptional ( Anna, King, Lady Thiang, Tuptim and Lun Tha) all of the music was good but some of the songs were really, really fantastic. ( Something Wonderful and I have Dreamed were my favorites) I also loved the little tiny kids in the scene when the kids meet Anna. I really enjoyed the show and would recommend it.

I saw the show on opening night and was really impressed with the set, the orchestra, the signing and the whole show. Very well produced show. I am going again this weekend with friends and recommend it to all!
