Gold Ribbon Day Fights Cancer Saturday

Find the Caruso students at Kevin’s Place and Deerfield Square to learn more about what can be done.

Students from Caruso Middle School program students will bring Gold Ribbon Day to Deerfield today to raise money to fight childhood cancer and raise awareness of the disease as part of their Destination Imagination project.

Destination Imagination is a competitive project where students find a cause and promote it through marketing skills and a skit.

"It's wonderful that District 109's Destination Imagination teams are expanding the reach of their creativity into the community to help others," Deerfield Public Schools District 109 Communications Director Catherine Kedjidjian said.

Anyone who wants to participate can find the students at tables at Kevin’s Place and Deerfield Square where people can sign a banner and make cards for patients. Raffle tickets are also available.

Dining at Kevin’s Place and shopping at Ami Ami will also help fight childhood cancer. A portion of the days’ receipts will be donated to the cause. Donations can also be made to St. Jude’s Research hospital in the name of Gold Ribbon Day in Deerfield.

Raffle sponsors for the event include Red Door Spa, Avenue Fashions, Biaggi’s, Italian Kitchen, Deerfields Bakery, Footloose, KidSnips, Townhouse, Deerfield Cyclery, Runway, Tom & Eddie’s, Potbelly and Just Between Friends.
