How Do You Deal With Digital Youth?
The Deerfield Parent Network is offering programs this week for middle and high school parents on the digital world.
Dr. Devorah Heitner, a Lake Forest College professor, will present two informative programs for parenting children in the digital age sponsored by the Deerfield Parent Network at 7 p.m. Monday and Thursday at Deerfield High School, according to a release from the group.
Heitner will discuss “Is There an App for That? Parenting Your Digital Child” at 7 p.m. Monday in a program geared for middle school parents. “As soon as your child can swipe a touchscreen, your family should establish a culture around technology,” the group said in the release.
On Thursday, Heitner will turn her attention to the parents of high school students when she presents “Bridging the Tech-Culture Divide: Parenting Your Digital Teen” at 7 p.m. at Deerfield High School.
This program is designed to give parents information to prevent their teenagers from creating a digital footprint that could follow them in adverse ways throughout their lives.
