Police Blotter: Police Catch Fleeing Theft Suspect

Retail Theft, Possession of Drug Equipment
Zlatko Nanev, 20, of Buffalo Grove was arrested recently for retail theft and possession of drug equipment while Michael Swanson, 19, of Wheeling was arrested at the same time day for possession of drug equipment, according to Deerfield Police reports.
Police received a call from Sports Authority that two persons left the store without paying, according to the report. Police found Swanson across the street in his car. Swanson told police his unnamed friend took shoes without paying, left the car and was on foot. Swanson agreed to a search and admitted to possession of a smoking pipe. The friend turned out to be Nanev.
According to the report, police located Nanev who was apprehended in the vicinity of Waukegan Road and Chestnut where he also had a pipe used for smoking marijuana, according to the report. Both men were taken to Sports authority where Nanev was identified as the person who took the shoes.
Both men were released on bond and will appear in Cook County Criminal Court at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 7 in Skokie, according to the report.
Driver’s License Infraction
De Yta Jasser, 33, of Highwood was arrested Oct. 27 for driving without a valid license, speeding and driving with one headlight, according to Deerfield Police reports.
Police clocked Jasser driving 50 miles per hour in a 40-mile-per hour zone on Lake Cook Road near Deer Lake Road with one headlight out, according to the report. He did not have a driver’s license.
Jasser was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 20 in Park City, according to the report.
