VIDEO: Fast Start Not Enough for Tigers in 75-56 Defeat

Chicagoland Jewish H.S comes up short against Providence St. Mel despite 24 points from Aaron Cohn.

The Chicagoland Jewish High School's boys basketball team fell to Providence St. Mel Wednesday night 75-56 in Chicago Prep Conference action.

The final score may be somewhat misleading, as the Tigers held a four-point lead after the first quarter thanks to 11 points from senior Aaron Cohn.

The Knights' Tevin Harris matched Cohn's effort in the second quarter, scoring nine straight points for St. Mel and helping them take a four point lead into halftime.

St. Mel built a 14-point lead in the third quarter, but CJHS continued to battle. Paz Abergel knocked down a turn-around jumper at the buzzer that cut the lead to 11 heading into the fourth quarter.

Junior Samuel Botbol chipped in five points in the fourth quarter to help the Tigers pull within eight.  That is as close as it would get.

St. Mel pulled away down the stretch thanks to clutch outside shooting from Eric Crawford and Teadric Anderson.

For the Tigers, Cohn finished with a team-high 24 points, while Botbol had 13.  Adam Seidenberg chipped in 11 and sophomore Jake Newlander added seven

With the loss, CJHS falls to 1-2 on the season, 1-1 in conference play.
