VIDEO: Twin Wrestlers Separate Weight to Take Down Competition

Deerfield duo figures out key to high school success on the mat.

Deerfield wrestlers Keven and Christian Hoogheem are identical twins, similar in every area, nearly impossible to tell apart.  But the juniors have finally figured out gaining one difference may be what helps them both succeed individually.

Since 7th grade, Keven and Christian have been competing against one another on the wrestling mat.  The lightweights continued that trend last year when they both wrestled in the 112-pound weight class.

However, being the same weight also meant only one of them could be on the mat in any given match.  This year, the brothers agreed that Keven would drop down to 103 pounds, and neither one seems to be regretting the decision.

Christian has posted a 17-5 record this season, including eight pins.  Keven has gone 16-3, racking up 13 pins and hopes to attain the Deerfield pin record of 28.

The two lightweight wrestlers have helped Deerfield to an 11-1 start and a 3-0 mark in conference matches. Besides weight, there is one other thing that separates the Hoogheem twins.  To find out, click on the video link for more on the Deerfield duo.
