Your Turn: Vote for Patch Athlete of the Week

The nominees for Athlete of the Week are: Glenbrook North's Jared Prost, Evanston's Josh Irving, New Trier's Isabelle Baneaux, Niles West's Casey Mahoney-Muno and Glenbrook South's J.J. Connor

 

Editor’s note: Patch will be trying a new method for voting our Athlete of the Week. We’re asking readers to post their vote in the comments section.

Loyola's Michelle Ricolcol was last week's Athlete of the Week. 

Ricolcol led Loyola with 17 points in the Ramblers’ overtime loss to Barlett in the Class 4A state championship third-place game. It was the first time Loyola has gotten to the state semifinals since 1998.

She garnered 328 votes, or 78 percent

The nominees for Patch Athlete of the Week, March 5 – March 11:

J.J. Connor, senior, boys water polo, Glenbrook South - Connor scored six goals in Glenbrook South’s 12-8 victory over Niles West. Connor helped the Titans to their first win of the season and a 1-0 record in Central Suburban League play.

Isabelle Baneaux, senior, girls water polo, New Trier – Baneaux led the Trevians with eight combined goals in the New Trier Invitational, helping the Trevians to a 3-0 record and a tournament championship. Baneaux is a co-captain and New Trier is now 4-0 on the young season.

Josh Irving, senior, boys basketball, Evanston – Irving had a game-high 23 points in Evanston’s 62-42 win over Niles North in the IHSA Class 4A Glenbrook South Sectional championship. It was Evanston’s first sectional championship since 2008 and face Simeon in the Super-Sectionals.

Casey Mahoney-Muno, senior, boys gymnastics, Niles West – Mahoney-Muno won the floor exercise with a score of 9.0 and took second place in the vault (8.75) to help the Wolves to a combined win in the Dick Foerch Invitational. It was the first invitational win for Niles West in school history.

Jared Prost, senior, boys water polo, Glenbrook North – Prost recorded 13 saves in Glenbrook North’s 11-7 victory over Barrington in the Highland Park Giant Invitational championship game. The Spartans trailed 6-4 at the half before rallying for a victory.
