It's Time now for the voters of Lake County to choose the State's Attorney who is best qualified, has the integrity and independence to bring positive change to the office and who has proven through his actions most worthy of the responsibility to ensure that justice, and not politics, is served.
While some would try to depict me as a political insider, even though my experience is as a hard-working lawyer, and not at all as a politician, it's important that votes be cast based on facts.
So while I am running as a Republican, I have not accepted Republican party contributions. From the start I have been clear and strong in my political independence, as well as my commitment to bring change, leadership and integrity to the office.
This "fact" has been clear for all to see and hear in words and actions during the campaign. See this video clip from my announcement in August 2011.
There is no room for politics in that office, and the voters should not be misled into thinking that because my party affiliation is Republican that things will not change. In fact, as most others who have endorsed my candidacy—including the Tribune, Daily Herald and law enforcement are doing so specifically because the changes I will make beginning on day one are better and stronger to ensure that justice is served.
My list of reforms and changes is long, and I encourage voters to consider the facts and not be victimized by negative campaign slogans and the unsubstantiated comments of others.
I am proud of the campaign and humbled by all of the widespread support from citizens throughout the county representing all affiliations.
I look forward to the opportunity to serve all citizens of Lake County as the next State's Attorney.
Please vote early or on November 6th. The important thing is that you do vote and do so based on the knowledge that a vote for Mike Nerheim is a vote for justice, independence and proven integrity.

This is Mike Waller's chosen successor. A vote for Mike Nerheim is a vote for Mike Waller. And the nerve to say he doesn't take Republican money!! Anyone can look this up at www.elections.state.il.gov--Nerheim has taken tons of money from the Republican donor base and Republican elected officials, including Mike Waller.
