Many multivitamins, especially those that claim to be “once daily” do not and cannot contain optimal doses of important nutrients – there just isn’t enough room in one or two reasonable-sized tablets or capsules.
I recommend that an Optimal Dose Daily Multivitamin should be taken in divided doses throughout the day (with meals), and should contain ingredients and doses like the following example:
Vitamin A 17,500 IU (as natural beta-carotene [15,000 IU] from D. salina and [2500 IU] from palmitate);
Viatmin C 1200 mg (sodium ascorbate, calcium ascorbate, ascorbic acid);
Vitamin D3 800 IU (as cholecalciferol);
Vitamin E 400 IU (as mixed tocopherols);
Vitamin K2 150 mcg (as menaquinone);
Thiamin 100 mg (as thiamin mononitrate);
Riboflavin 60 mg;
Niacin 200 mg (as niacinamide and inositol hexanicotinate);
Vitamin B6 100 mg (as pyridoxine hydrochloride, pyridoxyl 5-phosphate);
Folic Acid 800 mcg (as 5-methylcobalamin);
Biotin 300 mcg;
Pantothenic acid 400 mg (as d-calcium pantothenate);
Calcium 1000 mg (carbonate, citrate, ascorbate);
Iodine 150 mcg (from kelp);
Magnesium 500 mg (oxide, aspartate, citrate);
Zinc 20 mg (as monomethionine);
Selenium 200 mcg (as selenomethionine);
Copper 2 mg (as copper amino acid chelate);
Manganese 5 mg (as manganese amino acid chelate, gluconate, aspartate);
Chromium 200 mcg (as polynicotinate, picolinate);
Molybdenum 150 mcg (amino acid chelate);
Potassium 99 mg (aspartate, chloride, succinate);
Choline 350 mg (as choline bitartrate, citrate);
Vanadium 20 mcg (as vanadyl sulfate),
Boron 2 mg (amino acid chelate);
Para-Aminobenzoic acid 50 mg;
Citrus bioflavonoids 100 mg;
Lipase 27.5 mg;
Amylase 19 mg;
Protease 5 mg
