37th Annual Deerfield Historical Society Fall Festival

Celebrate the 175th anniversary of the Caspar Ott log house, Lake County’s oldest building.  Enjoy the 6th annual classic car show, heritage craft demonstrations, historic building tours, food and live entertainment. Enter the 2nd annual cookie contest judged by celebrity chef Gale Gand. Activities for kids include traditional games, face painting, and visiting a one-room schoolhouse. 

Gale Gand’s Cookie Contest
Enter your favorite cookie recipe to compete for prizes. Bring 3 dozen cookies made from scratch and a copy of the recipe between noon and 2:45 p.m. Celebrity Chef Gale Gand will award prizes at 3:30 p.m.  Gand is chef-in-residence at Lake Forest’s Elawa Farm and founding pastry chef and partner of the Chicago restaurant Tru.  After the judging, all the cookies will be sold to benefit the Deerfield Historic Village

Entertainment features performances by the Deerfield Community Concert Band at 12:45 p.m., Banjo Bang Up and folk instrument circle at 1:45 p.m., Bob Gand and Lana Rae, "Folk Music Lives!" at 2:15 and 2:50 p.m. and Honeysuckle Road, acoustic Celtic music by Bob Stern and band at 3 p.m.

Admission is free.  All profits from the Fall Festival will be used to help restore the buildings in the Historic Village which is open on Sundays, 2-4 p.m. through September.  For information call 847-948-0680 or email deerfieldhistory@gmail.com

Founded in 1968, the Deerfield Area Historical Society is a volunteer-run, non-profit organization administrated by the Deerfield Area Historical Society. Located on Deerfield Road, the organization preserves and interprets local history and architecture, with an outdoor museum featuring five historically accurate buildings including, the 1837 Caspar Ott log house, Lake County's oldest surviving building.
