The 7th annual Academic All-American Showcase will be held on July 14th and 15th, 2012, at the Joy of the Game Sports Center. Last year's event was attended by over 180 high school student-athletes, and sold out for the sixth consecutive year.

This camp, which was recognized in 2007 with a full-page article in USA Today, attracts college coaches from across the country. In the past, these coaches have represented institutions with high academic standards including schools from the Ivy and Patriot Leagues and other strong academic schools at the Division II and III levels. Players play three games the first day and a minimum of two playoff games the second day. In 2011, there were over 80 institutions represented and 180 players with an average ACT test score of 27 from 17 different states.

Joy of the Game is located on Waukegan Road, just south of Lake Cook Road, behind the shopping center containing Best Buy and Sports Authority. Joy of the Game is a basketball training camp that offers programs for all athletes of all ages, gender and skill level. The basketball clinic has traveling teams and even a Rising Stars team that has seen many players go off to play at the college level. Much of the coaching staff is made up of former Joy of the Game players who want to give back to younger players by passing on their knowledge of the game.
