The church is a Unitarian-Universalist congregation, which partly means members do not share a single creed. Instead, theological diversity is encouraged. Reverend Gary Scott James leads services in one of the most unique sanctuaries Deerfield, or any other suburb, has to offer. The reverend's podium is actually a rock, transported from a farmer's field in Wisconsin and lodged on top of natural soil in the church. During those sermons, participants get to marvel at the sanctuary's fused-glass windows, an architectural masterpiece, rich with meaning.
