With at least a foot of snow already on the ground in Deerfield, between three and five inches more could fall while a lake effect snow warning remains in effect until 3 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service.

All Deerfield snow removal equipment is currently treating the Village’s streets and officials hope to have it cleared off the roads within four and five hours after the snow stops, according to a spokesperson for the Public Works Department.

Classes at our local schools resume on Monday, January 6. PLEASE be considerate and shovel your sidewalks before then! Many students walk to school or to bus stops, and together we can make their routes safe.

The village should be performing this service.

I agree. My daughter walks to school and is legitimately afraid of spraining her ankle! People PLEASE take a little time to keep our kids safe. Allow them to walk on the sidewalks not make them go in the streets with all the traffic!
