Cold Delays Deerfield Waste Collection For Day
Temperature drops to -14. Tuesday service shifts to Wednesday and Wednesday to Thursday. Village offers shelter from cold.
Waste collection will be delayed a day this week in Deerfield because of the extreme cold temperatures and both Village Hall and the Deerfield Police Station will be open to help people keep warm, according to Andrew Lichterman, assistant to the village manager.
Tuesday garbage pickup will now take place on Wednesday and those who put their refuse out for collection Wednesday should do so Thursday, according to information on the Village’s website.
Village Hall will be open for those who need respite from the subzero temperatures from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. while the Deerfield Police Station is open 24 hours a day for the same purpose, according to Lichterman.
