Deerfield Honors Barb McMahon

Long time Whitehall director of nursing be honored with Barb McMahon Day Thursday.

Barb McMahon, the longtime and recently retired director of nursing at Whitehall of Deerfield is getting a day in her honor. Thursday is Barb McMahon Day in the Village and she will be feted at 5 p.m. Thursday at Whitehall.

“We are delighted to honor her,” Mayor Harriet Rosenthal said. “She has been a devoted employee of Whitehall all these years.” McMahon is a lifelong resident of Deerfield and raised her children in the community, according to a news release from Whitehall of Deerfield.

Still working as a consultant, McMahon spent 36 years at Whitehall and recently received the “Hero in Long-Term Care” designation by the Illinois Health Care association and Illinois Council on Long Term Care.

McMahon is also active in the Deerfield Junior Women’s Club and the Deerfield Historical Society.
