Fannie May Offers Free Candy for Grand Opening

There will be an ice cream giveaway in the afternoon.

After quietly operating in Deerfield since Oct. 11, Fannie May will be offering free candy and ice cream at its grand opening Thursday in downtown Deerfield.

Though the official ribbon cutting will be at noon, the first 50 customers through the door at 10 a.m. will get a free one-pound box of chocolates, according to an email from the Deerfield Bannockburn Riverwoods Chamber of Commerce.

There will be games and prizes all day until the shop closes at 8 p.m. Giveaways continue with a free scoop of ice cream to all customers between 2 and 4 p.m. The grand opening marks the official return of Chicagoland’s legendry candy shop since it left Deerbrook years ago.
