One of Deerfield’s own, Caruso Middle School sixth grader Lucia Ruiz, was severely injured in the Spanish train crash July 24. Friends have set up a website to help defray the costs of two broken legs, a cracked skill, internal bleeding and more. You can help by clicking here for Lucia.

Deerfield’s boil order remains in effect through at least midday Wednesday. Keep bringing water to a boil, keep it there for at least a minute and then let it cool before using. Well, not exactly. But, the Lake County Astronomical Society will bring strong enough telescopes at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Jewett Park to see the mountains and craters on the moon. The event is sponsored by the Deerfield Public Library and is free.
