Lake Bluff Resident Needs $1,800 for Service Project

Chris Nelson seeks financial support for a university service project in California.

A Lake Bluff resident is seeking the public's help as he works to raise money for a trip to California.

Chris Nelson hopes to raise $1,800 which will be used to join Fordham University's Global Outreach program, through which a dozen students will learn about "social, economic, political and environmental injustice, while living a simple lifestyle that fosters communal and spiritual growth," he explains on GoFundMe.

"By donating, you are supporting one of the best on-campus organizations that I have been a part of, making the team's aspirations of participating in a service project come true, and making an impact in the San Juan Bautista community," Nelson wrote on his fundraising page.

Nelson's is just a one of the many local fundraising campaigns hosted on GoFundMe, a Patch partner. Click through the link above for more information, or visit GoFundMe to search for other campaigns.
