New Poll Shows Big Lead for Morrison

Democratic candidate for state Senate, Julie Morrison, has released a new poll showing her in a strong position to win her election in November.

DEERFIELD, IL – Democratic candidate for state Senate, Julie Morrison, has released a new poll showing her in a strong position to win her election in November.  According to the poll, Morrison leads her Republican opponent 46% to 33%.

“This new poll shows that voters are responding to my message of bipartisanship and fiscal responsibility,” Morrison said.  “I am proud to run on my record.  For 15 years, I have advocated on behalf of taxpayers to streamline township services, keep the budget balanced, and work across party lines.  In Springfield, voters can count on me to cut wasteful spending and work across party lines to get the job done.”

Julie Morrison is seeking to replace retiring state Senator Susan Garrett.  The 29th District will cover parts of Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Deerfield, Highland Park, Lake Forest, and Lake Bluff.  The 400 likely voter poll was conducted by Anzalone Liszt Research.

According to the pollster, “Julie Morrison is running well ahead of Tea Party darling Arie Friedman (46% Morrison / 33% Friedman) in this heavily Democratic district. Friedman’s associations with the NRA and the Tea Party also disqualify him in a moderate district that President Obama will easily win for a second time. Friedman’s extremism, combined with the Democratic nature of the district, makes Julie Morrison a heavy favorite to keep this district in Democratic hands.”

  • Morrison holds a double digit lead with men and women, and in both Cook and Lake Counties
  • Once voters hear a balanced profile of both candidates, Morrison wins a majority of voters
  • Friedman’s connections to the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the Tea Party cripple his chances of victory.
