Be Well-Lake County Dig Day

Patients of Be Well-Lake County, a diabetes management program, planted this season’s vegetables in their Community Garden at the North Chicago Community Health Center. The Community Garden provides fresh produce to the patients and their families who live in the area, which is deemed a “food desert.” Due to increased popularity of the garden, 120 boxes (up from last year’s 80 boxes) have been constructed. Be Well-Lake County is a collaboration between NorthShore University HealthSystem and the Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center to provide high quality diabetes treatment, education, and support resources to more than 850 medically underserved patients.  For more information, visit northshore.org/bwlc.
