Deerfield High School selected for Comcast's Battle of the Fans Madness competition

It’s the time of year when basketball champions will be crowned on the court. At Comcast, it’s also time to decide who reigned in the stands with our 4th annual Battle of the Fans Madness tournament.

Eight Chicago-area high schools have been picked to participate in the tournament, which begins March 10. Each school was selected based on the excitement and enthusiasm its student section showed during appearances on the CN100 Game of the Week during the 2013-14 basketball season.

The eight-school field includes (in alphabetical order): Deerfield, Glenbrook South, IC Catholic Prep, Joliet Central, Loyola Academy, Neuqua Valley, Oak Park-River Forest and 2012 champion, Plainfield East.

Over the next two weeks, these eight student sections will compete to see which one best represented its school for the CN100 cameras. Based on voting results, the field will be narrowed down after the first week of voting, with a champion selected during the second week.

The 2014 Battle of the Fans Madness champion will be crowned on March 24, with the best student section receiving a special Battle of the Fans banner to display proudly as a testament to its school spirit.
