DHS Robotics Finishes Season Strong

My first year in robotics my team was lucky enough to move on to Illinois state. At Illinois state, however, things got more interesting. We had a strong start, but in our final qualification match another robot ripped out our electrical system destroying two motor controls and a motor. Another team picked us as an alliance partner for the finals even after we told them our robot didn't work. We began to fix the electrical system with only seven minutes to the final match. As electrician the role fell mainly upon m to fix it. It had taken me several hours to complete the electrical system before and I was doubtful it would be done in time. But then three other electricians from different teams (one of them in our opposing alliance) began to help me. With their help the repairs were completed in five minutes. We then had time to adjust our autonomous. Our robot was fully functional including the autonomous all thanks to the gracious professionalism the other teams had. Robotics is a place where engineers can work together and collaborate -even if they are competing- in order to accomplish a difficult task.
