Spooky Fun Sets the Tone at YMCA Halloween Party

Halloween spirits arrived early at the North Suburban YMCA, with costumed creatures gathering for family fun at the 6th Annual Spooky Halloween Party on October 20.  Approximately 1500 guests attended the afternoon event, which featured activities for a wide range of ages and interests. Young visitors enjoyed inflatable moonwalks, indoor trick-or-treating, games, facepainting, and art projects. On the lower level, brave souls navigated two haunted houses and shrieked through a scary boat ride on the Y’s indoor pool. Costume contests gave kids the chance to show off their creative, creepy creations.

“The Halloween Party is a great chance to bring everyone in the community together,” said Howard Schultz, Executive Director/CEO of the NSYMCA.  “It has become a fantastic tradition that everyone looks forward to. I think our staff and volunteers outdid themselves this year to make sure that all our guests had a wonderful time.”

Local business sponsors helped make the party a success with monetary, product, and personal support. Sponsors included: AA Service Co., Abt, Boy Scout Pack 463, Bravo, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chiro One, Duxler Auto Care, Garden Fresh Market, Glenview Jewel, GiftsForYou.com, Humana, Little Louis, Marcello’s, Northbrook Ace Hardware, Northbrook Dairy Queen, Northshore Ice Arena, Northbrook Rotary, Northbrook Tower, Roti Mediterranean Grill, Stage Wright Productions, Sunset Foods, SVET, Viccino’s, Walgreen’s in Glenview, and What’s Happening. Volunteers from the Y’s Junior Executive Board and the Northbrook Fire Department also helped create spectacular spooky effects and enabled the Y to continue the tradition of an outstanding family event.
