YouthBuild Lake County to Recognize Friends, Partners, and Volunteers at 6th Annual Summer BBQ

North Chicago, IL, July 2, 2013 -YouthBuild Lake County (YBLC), a non-profit organization that helps young adults transform their lives through education and job training, will host its 6th Annual Friends of YBLC Summer BBQ to thank its supporters for the difference they have made for the organization and the students it serves.

 The Summer BBQ will take place Friday, July 12 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at YBLC’s campus located at 1636 Kristan Avenue in North Chicago.  U.S. Congressman Brad Schneider will kick-off the speaking program at 4:15 PM and recognize YBLC for being awarded a $1.1 million YouthBuild grant from the U.S. Department of Labor, which will provide critical funding to help make the YouthBuild program possible for 75 young people over the next two years. Representative Rita Mayfield will also join us to discuss state funding.  North Chicago Mayor Leon Rockingham will be on hand to share the positive impact this funding has on both young adults and the community. 

During the event, Garvey’s Office Products will present YBLC with the proceeds from its recent Recycle for a Reason toner and electronics recycling program.  In 2007 Garvey’s established Recycle for a Reason to reduce landfill waste while raising money for local charitable organizations.

As always at the Summer BBQ, YBLC will recognize its outstanding volunteers and supporters.   This year awards will be given to MB Financial Bank, Grainger Corporation, the Lake County Housing Authority, and a number of individual contributors, volunteers and alumni.
