NEW INFO: Injured Bicyclist in Stable Condition

Police investigating car crash that sent teenager to hospital.

According to Deerfield Police the teenager hospitalized in Friday's car crash is in stable condition. However, authorities are not releasing specific details about the injuries she sustained.

On Friday, officers say an SUV struck the female biker on Castlewood Lane and Deerfield Road shutting down both lanes of Deerfield Road for several hours. The victim was transported to Lutheran General Hospital. 

Officials are still interviewing witnesses as well as investigating the incident. Authorities do say alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

Deerfield Police responded to an accident on Castlewood Lane and Deerfield Road around 10 a.m. Friday morning.

According to Deputy Chief Rick Wilk a female bicyclist was hit by an SUV.

Authorities say the victim was transported to Lutheran General Hospital. Her condition is unknown.

At this time police are not releasing the identity of the bike rider or the SUV driver.

Along with Deerfield Police, the fire department as well at the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team responded to the scene.

Police are on the scene of an accident that happened at Castlewood Lane and Deerfield Road Friday afternoon. 

Officers currently have both lanes of Deerfield Road blocked from Wilmot Road to Castlewood and are directing traffic around the wreckage.
