Baseball Players Make 'Sweetheart Dance' Special for Center for Enriched Living

A group of Highland Park High School baseball players donated their time to make Riverwoods' Center for Enriched Living's 'Sweetheart Dance' a night to remember for disabled community members.

When he is not on the baseball field, Highland Park High School senior pitcher, Justin Stern can often be found volunteering his time and talents at the Center for Enriched Living in Riverwoods.

So when the HPHS varsity baseball team was looking for an off-season community activity to participate in over the holidays, Justin didn’t hesitate to suggest his team join him at the Center for Enriched Living. Stern, along with seniors Perry Weber, Jeremy Mandel, Brett Shimanovsky, Jonathan Chudacoff, Harry Carl and junior David Joseph, spent Feb. 8 at the center’s Sweetheart’s Dance.

The players helped out with the evening’s activities including arts and crafts, photography, and dancing, helping to make it a very special night for the members.

Following one of the most successful seasons in school history, reaching the Elite 8 state tournament last spring, the Highland Park team has worked hard in the off-season, and is looking forward to taking the field again at the start of the 2013 season in a few weeks.
