With more than 100 bargain hunters walking through the doors in the first hour, Hadassah House opened its new location Sunday at 405 Lake Cook Road in Deerfield.

Describing itself as high end resale shop, Hadassah House is an arm of Hadassah, a national group describing itself as the women’s Zionist organization of America. Money earned from the shops support, among other things, a Nobel Prize winning hospital in Jerusalem.

“We operate like a business but the profits go to Hadassah Hospital, the College of Jerusalem and Youth Aliyah,” Hadassah House Committee Chairman Judy Falk said. Approximately 75 percent of the students at the college are on scholarships provided by the organization while the youth program helps children in need.

While there are bargains for the shopper, the merchandise is all donated. While people can drop off goods at the store, there is a pickup service for large donations like furniture, according to Falk and Manager Robert Van Kooten.

The store is open from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and closed on Saturday.
