Deerfield Wins Bannockburn Barbeque Challenge

Lake Forest finishes second with Lake Bluff third.

Bannockburn invited nearby communities to its annual Barbeque Challenge today at Bannockburn Green Shopping Center and next-door-neighbor Deerfield walked away with the judge's overall trophy.

Deerfield, Highland Park, Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, Bannockburn, Riverwoods and Kildeer prepared ribs, brisket, and a side dish. Defending champion Lake Forest took second with Lake Bluff third. There is also a people's choice award. It will be announced later today.

The judges were Rep. Brad Schneider (D-Deerfield), state Sen. Julie Morrison (D-Deerfield), state Rep. Scott Drury (D-Highwood) and Lake County Board President Aaron Lawler. They did not know which town’s representatives prepared what they tasted.
