Help Plan Relay For Life Wednesday

Initial planning meeting for annual American Cancer Society event set at 6 p.m. at Village Hall.

Planning for the annual Deerfield-Highland Park Relay for Life begins with an initial planning meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Deerfield’s Village Hall. The event is a major activity of the American Cancer Society.

Individuals are needed to help with logistics, entertainment, team recruitment, survivor and caregiver activities, securing community support, food and prizes. This year’s event is chaired by Assistant Deerfield Village Manager Jenny Maltas.

“Your talents are needed,” the American Cancer Society said in a news release. “If you’re committed to fighting cancer and want to put your talents to work, please join the meeting.”

The 2013 event will take place from 6 p.m. June 7 through 6 a.m. June 8 at Deerfield High School’s Adam Field.
