Village residents will be without a local library for just over three weeks when the closes at 6 p.m. today and reopens June 11 at its temporary Cadwell Corners location, according to information on the library’s website.
Books and other materials checked out before 6 p.m. today will be due when the temporary location opens. No late fees will be charged before June 14. For the next year the library will be undergoing .
According to the website, residents are encouraged to visit neighboring libraries like Highland Park, Northbrook or Vernon. People will have borrowing privileges but must register at the other library.
The new project will add 10,000 square feet to the existing building at a cost of $12 million. The plan is to return in a year.
“We will be in our new home by June, 2013,” Library Board President Ken Abosch said at a Village Board meeting in February. “We are excited about moving into a brand new building in a 40-year-old shell.
