While Deerfield has no official events planned Monday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Day, the Deerfield Park District has a “Kids Day Off” program for the Villages youth from kindergarten through eighth grade.
“We schedule these for all school holidays, even in service days,” Park District Communications and Foundation Manager Darla Kuhs said.
There will be planned activities for kindergarten age children from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Jewett Park Community Center, according to Kuhs. The cost is $40 for Deerfield residents and $60 for others. Parents can pay an additional $22 if they live in Deerfield and $26 more if they live outside for extended hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Children in first through eighth grades are welcome to participate in “Sidelined at Sachs” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sachs Recreation Center. There will be a Neos tournament among other activities, according to Kuhs.
The cost of the program for the older children is $31 for Village residents and $44 for those living elsewhere, according to Kuhs. The same additional fees apply for extended hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. as those charged for the kindergartners.
People can register on line or at the Park District offices.
