Pause at 3 p.m. Monday To Remember

Joann Harrison reminds Deerfield of what all Americans should do today.

Four shots from four different rifles honored 50 Veterans from eight wars buried in Deerfield’s cemetery this morning as part of the Village’s annual where more than 300 people took part.

Before marching from the flat pole in Jewett Park to the cemetery, American Legion Women’s Auxiliary President Joann Harrison shared some of the history about Memorial Day including the Law of Remembrance passed by the United States Congress.

“We’re supposed to stop whatever we’re doing at 3 p.m. in whatever time zone you are in and pause a moment to remember (our troops who have died fighting for our country),” Harrison said.
