A one-woman play about five Muslim woman dealing with life in post September 11 America will be performed for one night at 7 p.m. today at the in Deerfield.
The performance, “Unveiled,” is the creation of Chicago based playwright Rohina Malik. Malik wrote the play and has performed it at the Victory Gardens Theater in Chicago, the Next Theater in Evanston and the Brava Theater in San Francisco.
After the performance Malik will answer questions about the play.
The initial premier of “Unveiled” was at the 16th Street Theater in Chicago in 2009. Malik has written and produced plays at Chicago’s where she is one of four writers in the inaugural group of the Goodman Theater’s Playwrights Unit according to a news release from Malik.
The local production is sponsored by Southeast Lake County Faith in Action Volunteers, a combined effort of three churches and a synagogue to assist people in need. The Deerfield churches are , and . Highland Park’s is also part of Faith in Action.
