Award Winning Author To Speak at DHS

Corey Doctorow will talk about his books Tuesday evening.

Award winning science fiction novelist Cory Doctorow will talk about his work at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Deerfield High School.

The author of “Little Brother” and the forthcoming novel “Pirate Cinema,” Doctorow will talk about both books. “Little Brother” was nominated for the 2008 Hugo, Nebula, Sunburst and Locus Awards. It won both the Ontario Library White Pine prize and the Prometheus Award.

“Little Brother” is the story of Marcus, 17, who is swept up in the hysteria surrounding a terrorist attack, finds his world a police state and decides to fight the Department of Homeland Security himself.

In addition to his books, Doctorow is an activist, journalist and blogger, according to a news release from the Deerfield Public Library. He was also executive director of Electronic Frontier Foundation, a non-profit civil rights group which defends freedom in technology law, policy, standards and treaties.
