Acting Workshop with Theatre in the Woods

Theatre in the Woods is pleased to offer an acting workshop. Open to performers with all levels of experience, the workshop will focus on monologues and will be led by James M. Lynch of Highland Park. Lynch has an MFA in Directing for Theatre and has performed and directed professionally throughout the Chicago area. He is currently Chair of the Highland Park Cultural Arts Commission. The 8-week workshop will be held on Monday nights from 7:00-9:30, February 6 to March 26, at Zion Lutheran Church, located at 10 Deerfield Road in Deerfield. The cost of the workshop is $160. To register, please contact Theatre in the Woods at 847-604-1990 or at tiw300@comcast.net.



About the Instructor: James M. Lynch studied acting at several New York studios, notably Riverside Shakespeare and Herbert Berghof, and holds an MFA in Directing for Theatre from DePaul University’s prestigious Theatre School. He has been involved in the formation several theatre companies, including Actor’s Core in NY, and was a founding member of National Pastime Theatre in Chicago, as well as acting/producing/directing at the Organic, The Greenview Arts Center, and Chase Park Theatre. Lynch studied performance art under Fred Curchack and dramaturgy with the late Robert Corrigan. As an actor, Lynch has performed in national tours as the eponymous character in Cyrano de Bergerac and Athos in The Three Musketeers. Behind the scenes, he has worked as stage crew, puppeteer, and voiceover artist. Lynch has taught acting at several venues, including The Art Center in Highland Park, and serves as Chair of the Highland Park Cultural Arts Commission and the director of Highland Park Cultural Access Network. He does performance, management, and business coaching through his own company, JM Lynch Training & Consulting, and writes for several online publications on Lifestyle, Culture, and Business. He has also published a self-coaching workbook, The Hamlet Secret.
