Glicken's Photography Adorns Art Wall

Local artist and Deerfield High School graduate's work displayed through October.

Deerfield artist and Deerfield High School graduate Candy Glicken’s work continues to adorn the Art Wall at the Patty Turner Center through October, according to a news release from the Deerfield Park District.

A photographer, nature is a recurrent subject of Glicken’s pictures. “Her eye drawn to the lines, patterns and textures of nature’s and man’s vision of structure,” the release said.

Glicken has had shows at the Art Center in Highland Park and the Wilmette Arts Guild displayed at the Wilmette Public Library.

The pictures were taken in many spots of the world including Spain, France, Wisconsin and Lake Tahoe. She does her best to capture scenes of nature through a lens. “Some of the photographs exhibited here can’t do justice to the ‘real’ thing,” she writes in her biography.

“She imminently attempts to capture at least some of the wonder she experiences when creating her photographic images,” the release said.

Most of the work is available for purchase with Glicken donating 10 percent of the proceeds to the Patty Turner Center.
