I guess it's inevitable that Ravinia must bring in pop concerts to be financially viable. Within my lifetime, I've seen the Festival go from predominantly classical fare to more popular acts. The Ravinia management will argue that they're just keeping up with the times. I wonder how homeowners in the area must feel after buying their houses so they could llsten to classical music while lounging in their backyards. I guess Duke Ellington was right when he said (and I'm paraphrasing), "If it sounds good to you and makes you feel good, then it IS good." Does anyone recall that Ravinia was originally established as a summer venue for opera? They even had their own amusement park some 100 years ago. The only constant is change!

Jeez, you make it sound as if Alice Cooper and Metallica are coming to town. Santana, EW&F, Tony Bennett, CS&N?? We're talking about music legends here. The Duke was absolutely right.

To hear Roger talk about his music, to know how tuned in, enthusiastic and open he is to the fans before him is a rare, rare thing..... So.....If you attend just one concert of Roger Hodgson’s, you will be hooked and want to hear more. His soft spoken, candid, humble presences puts you at ease and than he starts to sing. His voice sounds better than ever! You have no doubt who he is performing for, the sea of faces before him, his fans. What do you feel, love.
