Work of Local Artist Put on Display

Michael Zidman's photography graces Art Wall of Patty Turner Center this month.

The work of Deerfield photographer and graphic designer Michael Zidman is displayed this month on the Art Wall at the .

When describing his work, Zidman compares the effort of a photographer to that of a painter transferring the image viewed by his eye to a picture people can enjoy.

 “My camera is the brush, the colors in the subjects are my palette and the prints are my canvases,” Zidman said. “My objective is to take a simple subject, and, with the use of creative and natural lighting, color, and depth of field and composition, make a pleasing and interesting photograph.”

The display includes a series of photographs taken at Chicago’s Millennium Park dubbed “Children at Play” as well as a series of landscapes and flowers.

A graduate of the Art Institute of Chicago, Zidman has worked as a graphic and product designer for more than 35 years. His passion for photography began as a child.
