Benjamin Tapas Closes Highland Park Eatery

After creating three different Highland Park eateries, Benjamin Brittsan will now try to sell his restaurant site.

Benjamin Tapas, the third iteration of restaurant ideas by Highland Park restaurateur Benjamin Brittsan, recently closed its downtown Highland Park location and is looking for someone to take over the site, according to a broker working on the transaction.

A sign on the building by the Kudan Group, a Chicago brokerage specializing in restaurant and bar transactions as well as other business and real estate ventures, indicates a “fully equipped restaurant” is for sale at the Second Street location.

“We’re looking to broker the site,” Scott Reinish, an agent with the Kudan Group said confirming the Benjamin Tapas is closed. “We represent the owner of Benjamin Tapas.” He hopes to arrange an assignment of the lease.

Benjamin’s opened over two years ago in Highland Park as an upscale restaurant with rave reviews. In January, Brittsan changed his menu to add some moderately priced items and in May turned it into a tapas spot.

Directly across Second Street, another successful restaurateur, John des Rosiers of Lake Bluff’s Inovasi, tried two different eatery ideas first as Moderno and then as Royce before closing shop in May.
