Bobby’s Deerfield Plans Oct. 16 Opening

Owners of Village’s newest eatery set tentative date to serve first meal.

Final touches are being put on the Village’s newest restaurant as Bobby’s Deerfield tentatively plans to open Oct. 16 in downtown Deerfield, according to co-owner Bobby Arifi. He calls the eatery an American bistro with an Italian influence.

Arifi is awaiting final approval from the Village with nearly all work complete and employees energetically training to greet customers when they arrive next week. Wine was arriving Monday to be inserted into a wood and glass cabinet the public can see in the dining room.

“We’re waiting for final approval from the Village and we’re ready to rock and roll,” Arifi said. The restaurant will initially be open for dinner and will serve lunch within a few weeks. “We want to work out all the bugs.”

Once lunch and dinner are served to diners according to Arifi’s standards, the establishment will offer carry out service as well.

Arifi and his brother, Augie Arifi, also own and operate Cafe Lucci in Glenview.

Thanks for your comment. Bobby's Deerfield is located on Deerfield Road just east of Waukegan Road where Red Star and Townhouse once were.

Soft opening last night of Bobby's Deerfield, the new restaurant by the Arifi brothers, owners of the great Cafe Lucci in Glenview - VERY impressive. It's elegant and foodie-friendly, but comfortable enough to feel like a neighborhood place where everyone (will soon) know your name. Extensive bar with craft cocktails and small-batch, upscale spirits used even for their standard pours; great craft beer list and interesting wine list. Menu offers a nice variety, from starters like house-cured salmon pastrami, and crabcakes that are actually worth eating, to a spicy calamari and giant portion of fresh burrata. Same with entrees, from casual to refined - we loved the brisket and beef burger, homemade gnocchi with beef ragu, fresh whitefish crusted with thin sliced potatoes and light lemon sauce. Desserts, especially cakes, were huge and great. But the quality of the food really distinguished the meals from the standard suburban fare that (IMHO) often overreaches or just bores. Welcome touches all added to the experience - free valet parking, attentive hosts, service that (while still working out the usual opening kinks) is clearly aimed high. And, wonderfully, the place is conversation-friendly even with a full house. A really worthy addition to the suburban restaurant scene! This is the one that's going to make this location a draw for locals and foodies from all over.
