Chick-fil-A Officially Open for Business Nearby

The restaurant is located near Routes 21 and 60.

"Three. Two. One. 'Eat Mor Chikin!'"

And with that, it was official. A ribbon-cutting ceremony—and Chick-fil-A's traditional 'First Bite Ceremony'—Thursday evening marked the grand opening of Lake County's first Chick-fil-A restaurant.

The restaurant is located near Routes 21 and 60 in Vernon Hills. It is Chick-fil-A's 1,771st location nationwide.

"We just want to say thank you so much," said Beth Dahlenburg, the Barrington resident who will manage the restaurant with her husband, Larry. "We are thrilled to be part of Vernon Hills, Libertyville, Mundelein and the bigger community."

Beth said she and Larry look forward to partnering with local organizations and schools.

"We look forward to a great future together," said Beth.

A number of special events are planned for the opening weekend, including:

  • Non-Perishable Food Drive: Friday Nov. 15 and Saturday Nov. 16- Recognizing that some community residents may struggle economically, especially as the holidays near, the restaurant is partnering with The Chapel for a non-perishable food drive at the restaurant from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday to benefit the Community CARE Center. Anyone donating four or more items during that time will receive a coupon for a free Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich. Items needed include: soup, chili, fruit, tomatoes, and tuna.
  • Chicago Bears linebacker, #59 Khaseem Greene will greet fans and sign autographs at the restaurant from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday Nov. 15
  • A Mini Milkshake Bash for all area high school students will occur on Friday, Nov. 15 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
