Deerfield-Based Walgreen's Experiences Dip in February Revenue

Walgreen's revenue fell 0.6 percent last month.

Deerfield-based Walgreen's experienced a decrease in revenue in February at established stores that have been open more than one year, reported Crain's Chicago Business.

Revenue fell 0.6 percent last month. Pharmacy revenue was reported flat despite a 6.5 percent increase in prescriptions filled at Walgreen's stores, according to Crain's.

In a press release, Walgreen's reported February sales of $5.75 billion, a decrease of 2.2 percent from $5.88 billion for the same month in fiscal 2012.

Last year’s total February sales benefited from one extra day because of the leap year. Excluding last February’s leap day, this year’s February sales increased 1.5 percent. Total front-end sales decreased 3.1 percent compared with the same month in fiscal 2012, and were flat when excluding last February’s leap day, reported Walgreen's.
