Ever had a policeman or policewoman serve you a ticket? Probably. Ever have a policeperson serve you a burger? No? Well it could happen from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2, at , in Deerfield Square, 740 Waukegan Rd.
Uniformed officers from the will be serving Tom & Eddie’s customers in an event titled, “Burgers & Badges.” It’s all part of a fundraiser for Special Olympics Illinois which is strongly supported by law enforcement and, to help do their part, Tom & Eddies will donate 10 percent of net sales for the day.
In addition, from noon – 8 p.m., officers of the Deerfield Police Department will have a 2011 Harley-Davidson parked under a tent in front of Tom & Eddie’s Deerfield and will be selling $10 raffle tickets to win it. The motorcycle is a yellow and chrome Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail Classic.
Funds raised will benefit the Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics Illinois. This raffle was started in 1998, and it’s been held every year since. To date, $830,000 has been raised for the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois.
Six winners will be drawn, and at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at the Special Olympics headquarters in Bloomington, IL, each winner will be given a key, but only one key starts the Harley. The other five winners will receive 50-inch big screen TVs worth $1,000 each.
